Sheldon Jackson Museum This is the oldest museum in Alaska, and is located in the first concrete building in the state. The collection was started by Rev. Dr. Sheldon Jackson, a minister in the 1890's who collected artifacts and placed them in this museum, starting in 1887. The collections include items from several different native cultures in Alaska, from baskets and masks to totems and hand-sewing. They also have frequent Native art demonstrations.
